Lourdes Planelles Carazo

Lourdes Planelles Carazo has a diverse range of work experience in the field of scientific research. Lourdes'smost recent position is as the Chief Scientific Officer at Amadix, a role they started in September 2022. Prior to that, they worked at BiOncotech Therapeutics from 2016 to 2021 as the Scientific Director. In this role, they were responsible for managing the research team and preclinical budget, designing and implementing studies to support the development of a new agent in immuno-oncology, and coordinating preclinical activities both inside and outside the company.

Before joining BiOncotech Therapeutics, Lourdes held a position as a Research Group Leader at the National Center for Biotechnology-CSIC from 2007 to 2016. In this role, they led in vitro and in vivo studies investigating the signaling of APRIL in the immune system and cancer promotion. Lourdes Planelles Carazo holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology, which was obtained from Universidad de Granada from 1997 to 2001. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the same university from 1991 to 1996. Alongside their scientific studies, Lourdes participated in a Leadership Program for Women called "LIDERA" in 2011. Lourdes also completed a Project Management course in Biotechnological Companies at Universidad Europea in 2012. In 2015, they attended IE Business School to enhance their management skills and gain knowledge in Management Fundamentals for Scientists.
