Amara
Caroline Bassett is an accomplished professional in development and communications with extensive experience in fundraising and event management. Currently serving as the Director of Development and Communications at Amara since November 2016, previous roles include Donor Relations Officer, Philanthropy Officer, Development Manager, and Special Events Manager. Prior experience includes serving as Senior Event Manager at The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter, where significant fundraising events were executed, raising over $600,000. Caroline also contributed to the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital as an Annual Giving Specialist and in various administrative roles, significantly increasing giving through adept campaign management and volunteer training. Caroline holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Religious Studies from the University of Florida.

We drive systemic change, promote healing, racial and LGBTQIA+ equity, by offering programs and services to families engaged in foster care, and to adoptees and families, post-adoption. Foster Care Services: We guide, prepare, and support foster families to ensure that every kid in foster care can be placed in a stable, loving home. Post Adoption Services: Our Post-Adoption services support Amara adoptees and their families through community-building, mentorship, education, and more. Amara welcomes youth, adults, and families into our program regardless of marital status, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, home ownership, income, or education.
