Amara
Marcia Jacobs is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in various sectors. Currently serving as the Communications Manager at Amara since November 2021, Marcia leads content development and storytelling to enhance awareness of the organization's mission for children in foster care and their families. Prior to Amara, Marcia was the Editor at Franklin Mason Press, contributing to children's and educational literature while supporting important causes. Marcia also served as the Communications and Marketing Manager at Child Care Aware of Washington, where Marcia was the first communications manager in the nonprofit's history. Earlier roles include Editor at Cabezon Group, Inc., Medical Biller at Central Peninsula Hospital, and reporter positions at Communications Week, Journal American, and Federal Way City Herald. Marcia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

We drive systemic change, promote healing, racial and LGBTQIA+ equity, by offering programs and services to families engaged in foster care, and to adoptees and families, post-adoption. Foster Care Services: We guide, prepare, and support foster families to ensure that every kid in foster care can be placed in a stable, loving home. Post Adoption Services: Our Post-Adoption services support Amara adoptees and their families through community-building, mentorship, education, and more. Amara welcomes youth, adults, and families into our program regardless of marital status, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, home ownership, income, or education.
