Jay Thiagarajan is an experienced applied scientist with a focus on generative AI and multimodal LLMs, currently serving as Principal Applied Scientist at Amazon since November 2025. Previously, Jay worked at Apple as a Generative AI Researcher, and held various significant roles at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, including Principal Research Scientist & Lead, where leadership was demonstrated over cross-functional AI research teams and successful funding acquisition from multiple agencies. Jay also served as a Senior Research Scientist, contributing to foundational research in deep learning and computer vision, and initially expanded expertise during a postdoctoral position at Lawrence Livermore National Security. Academic achievements include a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University, along with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication.
