Zhan Shi is an accomplished applied scientist currently working at Amazon since November 2021, contributing to advancements in Just Walk Out technology. Prior to Amazon, Zhan served as a senior software engineer at Inceptio from January 2019 to November 2021, focusing on computer vision and machine learning for Level 3 autonomous trucks, including LiDAR 3D object detection and sensor fusion. Zhan’s earlier experience includes a position as a research engineer at General Motors from May 2017 to December 2018, where research involved computer vision and deep learning algorithms, as well as a graduate student research assistant role at the University of Michigan from September 2015 to August 2017, concentrating on object recognition and deep learning applications. Zhan also interned at Hikvision in 2016, working on pedestrian and vehicle detection using deep learning techniques.
