Jonny Gordon has a long and varied work experience. Jonny started in 2004 as a Production Assistant at Partizan, then in 2005 they were a Student Research Trainee at the Saban Research Institute of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. In 2006 they were an Undergraduate Researcher at Brown University, where they studied rare earth metal triflate catalysis of the Ugi four component coupling reaction, worked toward the total synthesis of the antibiotic inodolmycin utilizing three component Passerini coupling reactions with convertible isocyanides, and worked toward the total synthesis of an amino acid macrocycle of the ADEP class of antibiotics. In 2008 they were a Graduate Student at Caltech, where they accomplished the asymmetric syntheses of transtaganolides A, B, C, and D, developed a palladium catalyzed Negishi cross-coupling of methoxy acetylide organozinc reagents, and developed a one pot synthesis of transtaganolides C and D from a monocyclic achiral precursor. In 2015 they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at UCLA, supervised by Prof. Hosea M. Nelson, and also a Financial Analyst at Carole Inc. From 2017 to 2021 they were at Beyond Meat, where they were a Scientist II and then a Scientist I. Jonny is currently the Head Of Research And Development at Ambercycle.

Jonny Gordon attended Brown University from 2003 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (Sc.B.) in Chemistry. Jonny then went on to Caltech, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from 2008 to 2015.
