Lara Graf began their work experience in 1989 as a City Editor and Reporter for Press Publications / Des Plaines Publishing Co. From 1992 to 1995, they worked as a Publications Coordinator at Ice Skating Institute of America, where they conceptualized art, wrote articles, and edited magazines. From 1995 to 1999, Lara served as a Publications Manager at Automotive Service Industry Association, where they wrote articles, edited a magazine, and managed print and mail services. From 1999 to 2000, they worked as a Managing Editor at the American Academy of Dermatology, overseeing the development and editing of a monthly dermatology practice management news tabloid. From 2000 to 2003, Lara was a Publications Manager at the American Academy of Dermatology, ensuring the quality and accuracy of information published in member periodicals. Lastly, from 2003 to 2018, they served as the Director of Creative and Publishing at the American Academy of Dermatology, overseeing publications, journals, website, social media, and advertising sales. In 2018, they became the Director of Medical Journals Publishing, spearheading the strategic management of the Academy's scholarly journals portfolio.

Lara Graf completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism at Indiana University Bloomington from 1985 to 1989. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Communications/Multimedia/Journalism Innovation at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University from 2016 to 2017.
