Todd D. Shaffer

Todd D. Shaffer, MD, MBA, FAAFP, a family physician in Kansas City, Missouri, is a member of the board of directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians. The AAFP represents 127,600 physicians and medical students nationwide.

As an AAFP board member, Shaffer advocates on behalf of family physicians and patients nationwide to inspire positive change in the U.S. health care system.

Shaffer has practiced family medicine for 29 years. Since 1995, he has served at the University of Missouri—Kansas City School of Medicine as an assistant professor, associate professor, and then professor of family medicine. He also served as family medicine residency program director from 2002 to 2017. Shaffer practices the full scope of family medicine through University Physicians Associates at Truman Medical Centers and the Lakewood Medical Pavilion.
