American Academy of Forensic Sciences
Sydney Buchalter is a forensic toxicologist at the DC Pretrial Services Agency since December 2019 and a Student Affiliate with the American Academy of Forensic Sciences since January 2019. Sydney's previous experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at The George Washington University, where research focused on improving the identification of fentanyl and synthetic cathinones under the supervision of Dr. Ira Lurie, PhD. Sydney has also worked as an Analytical Chemistry Learning Assistant at Penn State University, providing support to undergraduate students, and participated in an internship at the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Laboratory, assisting in laboratory operations and evidence processing. Sydney holds a Master of Science in Forensic Toxicology from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science from Penn State University, complemented by a minor in Chemistry.
