Jon Fanning, MS, CAE, CNED has extensive work experience in various leadership and policy roles within prominent healthcare organizations. Jon is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners since March 2021. From 2013 to 2021, they worked at the American Psychiatric Association, where they held the positions of Chief Strategy Officer, Interim Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Membership Officer. Prior to that, Jon worked at the American Medical Association from 2000 to 2013, where they held roles such as Director, Resident and Fellow Section and LGBTQ Advisory Committee, Policy Associate, Senior Policy Analyst, and Policy Analyst. Jon'searly career includes roles at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as an Assistant Policy Analyst and Administrative Assistant.

Jon Fanning holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Health Care Administration from DePaul University. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Communication from Millikin University.
