Joanne Jones is an accomplished academic and accounting professional with extensive experience in education and practice. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at York University since 2005, Joanne has also held the role of Assistant Professor. In addition to academic responsibilities, Joanne is an Associate Editor for the American Accounting Association's "Issues in Accounting Education" since 2012. Previous roles include Associate Director of Education at CPA Ontario from 1996 to 1998, Audit Manager at KPMG in Canada from 1988 to 1996, and Executive Assistant to the Dean of Business at Memorial University of Newfoundland from 1985 to 1987. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Accounting from the Schulich School of Business at York University, FCPA, FCA from CPA Ontario, an MBA, and a BComm from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The American Accounting Association promotes worldwide excellence in accounting education, research and practice. Founded in 1916 as the American Association of University Instructors in Accounting, its present name was adopted in 1936. The Association is a voluntary organization of persons interested in accounting education and research.
