Yvonne Hinson, Ph.D., CPA (NC), currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the American Accounting Association since September 2020. Prior to this role, Yvonne held the position of Vice President - Academic in Residence at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants from February 2016 to September 2020, where responsibilities included leading academic initiatives and serving as an external liaison. Yvonne's academic career includes significant tenure as an Associate Professor of Accounting at Wake Forest University from August 1997 to February 2016, where roles expanded from Assistant Professor to Dean of Charlotte Programs and Director of Accountancy. Additional experience includes an instructor role at BB&T and a visiting professor position at Tulane University. Yvonne's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Accounting from the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a BS in Accounting from the same institution.

The American Accounting Association promotes worldwide excellence in accounting education, research and practice. Founded in 1916 as the American Association of University Instructors in Accounting, its present name was adopted in 1936. The Association is a voluntary organization of persons interested in accounting education and research.
