Jorge Zamanillo

Jorge Zamanillo serves as Chair and previously held the positions of Vice Chair and Secretary at the American Alliance of Museums since May 2019. Since May 2022, Jorge has been the Founding Director of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino. Prior to this, Jorge was President of the Florida Association of Museums from 2008 until September 2022 and held various roles at HistoryMiami Museum from November 2000 to March 2022, including Executive Director and Museum Director. Jorge began a career in archaeology at the ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND HISTORICAL CONSERVANCY, INC. from 1988 to 2000. Educational qualifications include a BA in Anthropology from Florida State University, an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester, an AA from Miami Dade College, and a diploma from Miami Senior High.
