Grant Tremblay serves as an Astrophysicist and External Relations Lead at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian since July 2017, focusing on extragalactic observational astrophysics and managing relationships with governmental and institutional stakeholders. In addition to this role, Tremblay is the Senior Vice President of the American Astronomical Society and serves as Vice Chair of the NASA Astrophysics Advisory Committee. Previous positions include Vice President at NASA, Chair of the NASA PhysPAG Executive Committee, and Lecturer of Astronomy at Harvard University. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Physics & Astronomy from the University of Rochester.

The mission of the AAS is to enhance and share humanity’s scientific understanding of the universe as a diverse and inclusive astronomical community, which it achieves through publishing, meetings, science advocacy, education and outreach, and training and professional development.
