Susanna Kohler is a Communications Manager and Press Officer at the American Astronomical Society, where responsibilities include managing communications and serving as the Society's media liaison since January 2015. As Co-Editor of AAS Nova, Susanna created and oversees a website that features recent research published by the Society. Prior experience includes positions as a Graduate Researcher and Teaching Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder, focusing on astrophysical modeling and science communication, as well as tutoring and teaching introductory astronomy at UCSB Campus Learning Assistance Services. Susanna also participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates at the National Solar Observatory, studying the solar chromosphere. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Astrophysics from the University of Colorado Boulder, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from UC Santa Barbara.

The American Astronomical Society (AAS), established in 1899, is a major international organization of professional astronomers, astronomy educators, and amateur astronomers. Its membership of approximately 8,000 also includes physicists, geologists, engineers, and others whose interests lie within the broad spectrum of subjects now comprising the astronomical sciences. The mission of the AAS is to enhance and share humanity’s scientific understanding of the universe as a diverse and inclusive astronomical community, which it achieves through publishing, meetings, science advocacy, education and outreach, and training and professional development.
