Jessie Lowinger

Director Of People And Culture at American Bar Foundation

Jessie Lowinger has a strong background in HR and operations. Jessie currently holds the position of Director of People and Culture at the American Bar Foundation, where they lead HR and office operations for over 60 sociolegal research faculty, staff, contractors, and affiliates. Prior to this, they were the Manager of HR and Operations at the American Bar Foundation, where they implemented various improvements such as overhauling the employee handbook and performance review process, evaluating the pay structure, and ensuring compliance with 403(b) plans.

Before joining the American Bar Foundation, Jessie was the Director of Operations at MAPSCorps, where they managed HR, finance, and office operations for STEM youth research programs across multiple cities. Jessie also created and implemented the organization's first Employee Handbook and oversaw hiring for seasonal positions.

Earlier in their career, Jessie worked at Women Employed as a Policy Associate and Policy Coordinator. In these roles, they led advocacy efforts for higher education financial aid policy, co-chaired a racial equity and inclusion taskforce, and drafted the organization's first DEI statement.

Jessie also has experience working as a Senior Coach at Omaha South High School through College Possible.

Jessie Lowinger completed a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree in Public Policy Analysis & Nonprofit Financial Management from the NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service from 2014 to 2016. Prior to this, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) in Learning and Organizational Change, cum laude, with a minor in Spanish from Northwestern University. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained various certifications, including the Employing Abilities at Work Certificate from SHRM, the Social Science and Behavioral Science Research certificate from the CITI Program, the Essentials of Research Administration certificate from the CITI Program, the HIPAA, Security and Privacy certificate from the CITI Program, and the SHRM - Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designation from SHRM.
