Dan Hicks has extensive work experience in various leadership and management roles. Dan served as the Director of Operations at the American Battle Monuments Commission, where they oversaw multiple commemorative cemeteries and federal monuments. Additionally, they were the Superintendent of the North Africa American Cemetery and Memorial, responsible for planning and managing all aspects of the site. Prior to that, they held positions as Acting Superintendent of the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Assistant Superintendent of the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. Dan also worked as a Project Manager and Inventory Manager at White Oak Pastures Inc, where they led a project to modernize the company's inventory and logistics management system. Dan served as a Senior Defense Analyst at Global Aerospace Logistics, conducting research and analysis to develop doctrinal education and training publications for the UAE Armed Forces. Before that, they were a Senior Defense Consultant at TechWise, where they collaborated with colleagues and clients to develop tailored doctrine for the UAE military. Dan's career began in the United States Marine Corps, where they served as a Marine Officer for over 20 years, gaining experience in leadership, operations management, security, and international relations.
Dan Hicks has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Agricultural Business & Economics from Auburn University. Dan also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Defense Management and Strategy from École de Guerre, a Postgraduate Certificate in Project Management from Georgetown University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Executive Leadership from Cornell University. In addition, they received an AA degree in French Language & Culture (Diploma with Honors) from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center. Dan Hicks obtained a Diploma from Amy Bradford Ware High School.
Furthermore, Dan Hicks has obtained several certifications. Dan completed the Landscaping Technology Program from Penn Foster in August 2019. Dan also obtained the Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) certification from the National Association for Interpretation in April 2019. Additionally, they obtained the Contracting Officer's Representative (FAC-COR) certification from Management Concepts Inc. in February 2019.

American Battle Monuments Commission
ABMC is an agency of the government of the United States of America and administers, operates and maintains 26 permanent American military cemeteries and 30 federal memorial, monuments and markers located in 17 foreign countries, the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the British Dependency of Gibraltar. Three of the memorials are located within the United States. These cemeteries and memorials, most of which commemorate the service and sacrifice of Americans who served in World War I and World II, are among the most beautiful and meticulously maintained shrines in the world. The majority of positions for US citizens are for Cemetery Superintendents and Assistants, though occasionally there are positions in other fields at our headquarters in Arlington, Virginia or at our Overseas Operations Office in Paris, France.
