Joseph Salvatore Alotto

Joseph Salvatore Alotto has extensive experience in leadership and management roles, currently serving as Superintendent for the American Battle Monuments Commission since November 2018, overseeing a team across two sites and managing administrative duties. Prior roles include Superintendent at the Mexico City National Cemetery, where Joseph represented the Commission, and Assistant Superintendent at Lorraine American Cemetery, focusing on visitor engagement and administrative skill development. Joseph has a background in outreach coordination with the Wounded Warrior Project, and experience as an Archaeological Laboratory Technician and fellow with The Mission Continues and The Red Cross. Joseph's military service as a Military Police officer included multiple deployments and training Iraqi Police forces. Joseph holds a Master of Arts in International Security Studies from the University of Arizona and several certificates in language and leadership from prestigious institutions.

American Battle Monuments Commission

ABMC is an agency of the government of the United States of America and administers, operates and maintains 26 permanent American military cemeteries and 30 federal memorial, monuments and markers located in 17 foreign countries, the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the British Dependency of Gibraltar. Three of the memorials are located within the United States. These cemeteries and memorials, most of which commemorate the service and sacrifice of Americans who served in World War I and World II, are among the most beautiful and meticulously maintained shrines in the world.
