Superintendent Of The Manila American Cemetery at American Battle Monuments Commission

Ryan Blum has extensive experience in leadership and operations within military and civilian contexts. Since July 2016, Ryan has served in various capacities at the American Battle Monuments Commission, including Superintendent of the Manila American Cemetery and Deputy Director of Operations. Previously, Ryan held internships with the United States Department of Defense and the International Trade Administration. Ryan's military background includes notable roles as an Infantry Squad Leader and Team Leader in the 10th Mountain Division, with significant responsibilities in personnel management and operational tactics during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Ryan holds a B.A. in International and Comparative Politics with a minor in International Law from The American University of Paris, complemented by project management certification from Cornell University and a certificate in French Studies.

American Battle Monuments Commission

ABMC is an agency of the government of the United States of America and administers, operates and maintains 26 permanent American military cemeteries and 30 federal memorial, monuments and markers located in 17 foreign countries, the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the British Dependency of Gibraltar. Three of the memorials are located within the United States. These cemeteries and memorials, most of which commemorate the service and sacrifice of Americans who served in World War I and World II, are among the most beautiful and meticulously maintained shrines in the world. The majority of positions for US citizens are for Cemetery Superintendents and Assistants, though occasionally there are positions in other fields at our headquarters in Arlington, Virginia or at our Overseas Operations Office in Paris, France.
