Mark Fleury

Principal, Policy Development, Emerging Science at American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN)

Mark Fleury has a diverse work experience with a focus on science policy and research. Mark has held positions at various organizations including the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the New York Academy of Sciences. Mark has also worked as a Legislative Assistant at AAAS and as a Technical Advisor at Project HOPE. Prior to their work in science policy, Mark worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at MIT and as a Research Assistant at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne and Northwestern University. In addition, they have engineering experience at Cargill where they managed large-scale capital projects and was licensed as a Professional Engineer.

Mark Fleury earned their Ph.D. in Bioengineering from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) between 2004 and 2007. Prior to that, they obtained an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University from 2002 to 2004. Their undergraduate education was completed at Kansas State University where they earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Additionally, they hold a Professional Engineering License in Chemical Engineering from the State of Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects.
