Michael Stewart has extensive work experience in business development and account management. Michael worked as the Director of Membership, Events & Partnerships at AmCham HK from March 2021 onwards and previously held the role of Director of Membership. Before that, they worked as an Enterprise Account Manager at WeWork from November 2018 to July 2020.
Prior to joining WeWork, Michael worked at AmCham China as a Senior Manager of Business Development, where they focused on developing sales processes and revenue streams. Michael also worked at The Economist as a Business Development Manager, responsible for overseeing the Economist Corporate Network and driving new business in Beijing.
Before their time at The Economist, Michael was a Business Development Manager at i2i Group China, where they supported the CEO in setting and executing strategies, prospecting and qualifying leads, and leading sales meetings and negotiations. Michael also played a key role in establishing a social media marketing team.
Earlier in their career, Michael worked as an Account Executive at MBC Consulting Limited, where they were involved in business development projects and served as a liaison between the organization and government entities. Michael also wrote successful RFPs to establish two state government centers.
Michael's work experience extends back to their role as the President of Penn State Students for Barack Obama during the 2008 Obama for America campaign.
Michael Stewart completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Government at Penn State University from 2006 to 2010. Michael then pursued a Master's degree in International Studies and Business at Concordia University Irvine from 2010 to 2012. During this time, they also studied Chinese Language and Literature at East China Normal University in 2011 and 2012. In addition to their formal education, Michael obtained the HSK Chinese Proficiency Test Level 5 from Hanban Confucius Institute in June 2012 and a TESOL certification from Concordia University Irvine in July 2010.
