John Rather

John Rather is an experienced legal professional currently serving as the General Counsel for the American College of Chest Physicians since December 2020, overseeing legal matters for the international medical specialty association and its affiliates. Prior experience includes roles as an Attorney at Neider & Boucher, S.C., and as a Consultant for Association Consultant, where John provided legal and operational reviews for a national medical specialty society. Additionally, John held the position of General Counsel for the Wisconsin Medical Society from May 2012 to January 2019, managing legal affairs for a large membership organization and its subsidiaries. Earlier positions included Senior Counsel and Vice President of Legal Affairs, as well as Assistant General Counsel at Peterson, Johnson & Murray, S.C. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Law (JD) from Marquette University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
