Fernanda Villarroel is an academic and art historian currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Davidson College since July 2023, and as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History of Africa and the Black Atlantic at Oberlin College since September 2022. Additionally, Fernanda holds the position of Fellow at The Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of the Sylvan C. Coleman and Pam Coleman Memorial Fund since September 2021, and has been involved with the American Council of Learned Societies as a Mellon/ACLS DCF since June 2020. With a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, completed between 2014 and 2021, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Universidad de Chile, Fernanda's expertise lies in contemporary art and its intersections with cultural studies.
