Heather Mangrum has a diverse work experience in the field of communications. Heather started their career as the Director of Communications at Helen Keller International, where they established the institution's first communications department and grew the team to support fundraising campaigns and promote programs in multiple countries. After that, they served as the Director of Communications at International House, where they established internal and external communications practices and produced special events to raise the organization's profile and increase engagement. Heather then worked as the Managing Director of Communications at Drug Policy Alliance, overseeing a team responsible for media relations, web content, advocacy communications, social media, and public education. Heather then worked as a Communications Consultant before joining Chief as a member of the New York chapter. Currently, they are serving as the Head of Communications at the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), where they lead activities to increase brand awareness, strengthen digital marketing results, and improve engagement with applicants, partners, and supporters.
Heather Mangrum obtained a Bachelor's degree in Journalism & Communications from Washington and Lee University, attending the institution from 1988 to 1992.
