Jon Fansmith

Jon Fansmith serves as the Senior Vice President for Government Relations at the American Council on Education since November 2003. In this role, Jon directs efforts to engage federal policymakers on a diverse range of issues including student aid, government regulation, scientific research, and tax policy. Previously, Jon held positions such as Director of Government Relations, where representation before major stakeholders was a key focus, and Assistant Vice President of Government Relations. Earlier experience includes working at the Electric Power Research Institute as an Assistant to the Director of Washington Relations and as an Academic Program Manager at George Washington University. Jon holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts in Political Science and Government from Johns Hopkins University.
