Mushtaq Gunja

Mushtaq Gunja currently serves as the Executive Director of the Carnegie Classification Systems and Senior Vice President at the American Council on Education since July 2018, in addition to holding the position of Chief of Staff and Vice President at the same institution. Gunja is also an Adjunct Professor and was previously the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs at Georgetown University Law Center. Prior experience includes roles as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Under Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education, Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland School of Law, and Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney's Office. Gunja's credentials are further strengthened by a Deputy Assistant White House Counsel position and several legal roles, including attorney positions at Jenner and Block and Hogan Lovells, as well as a judicial clerkship with Judge Catherine C. Blake. Educational qualifications include a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from Brown University.
