Dr. Walter Powell

Dr. Walter Powell is an accomplished professional in the fields of history, public history, and historic preservation, currently serving as an Associate focused on Books & Historical Manuscripts at J. James Auctioneers & Appraisers since January 2019, while also functioning as an On Board Guest Lecturer for American Cruise Lines. Powell offers independent consulting services in management and public history, with an active role on the Board of Trustees and as Interim Executive Director for the Plymouth Antiquarian Society. Previously, Powell held positions such as Executive Director of The General Society of Mayflower Descendants and Interim Director of the George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War. Academic contributions include adjunct teaching at both Shepherd University and Shippensburg University, complemented by a robust educational background with a PhD in English and MA in History from Kent State University, along with a Bachelor's degree in History from Slippery Rock University.
