Byrel Mitchell

Byrel Mitchell is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in software and solutions engineering. Currently serving as a Senior Solutions Engineer at American Electric Power since May 2021, Byrel previously held the position of Senior Software Engineer at Site Enhancement Services from June 2018 to December 2020, focusing on building data-driven applications for web and native platforms. Prior to this, Byrel contributed as a Software Engineer at Michigan Tech Civil & Environmental Engineering, developing data-intensive applications for road commissions between April 2015 and May 2018. As a Research Assistant at Michigan Technological University from August 2011 to January 2015, Byrel worked on underwater glider projects under the supervision of Nina Mahmoudian. Byrel's career began at Precision Tool, where a journey from manufacturing engineer to various support roles spanned from January 1995 to August 2011. Byrel holds a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and has additional qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Mathematics from Tri-State University.
