Melanie Backs is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in reputation management and corporate affairs. Currently serving as Vice President at American Express since October 2016, Melanie has held multiple leadership roles, including Vice President of Financial & Policy Communications and Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Communications for Global Merchant & Network Services. Prior experience includes serving as Director of Public Affairs in the Consumer Services Group at American Express and working as an Account Supervisor at Weber Shandwick. Melanie began their career as an Account Executive at Padilla Speer Beardsley, focusing on diverse sectors such as healthcare and financial services. Academically, Melanie holds a B.A. in Corporate/Broadcast Communications from Elon University and an M.S. in Business Management & Leadership from The City University of New York.
