Ian Leahy

VP, Urban Forestry at American Forests

Ian Leahy is an experienced professional in urban forestry, currently serving as Principal and Senior Advisor at American Forests since March 2014, where responsibilities include overseeing urban forestry programs in 17 cities and leading significant greening projects. Previously, Ian held the position of Urban & Community Forestry Coordinator for the District of Columbia and an Urban Forestry Instructor for the City of Baltimore, focusing on workforce training and development in urban forestry management. As the owner and manager of North Winds Landscape from 2003 to 2008, Ian managed a successful landscape design company. Additionally, Ian contributed as Managing Editor for the Alliance for Community Trees, promoting community-based forestry initiatives. Ian holds a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University and a degree in Natural Resources, Resource Policy, and Management from Cornell University.
