Brett Wean has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Brett began their career as an Editorial Consultant at Christopher Cerf Associates in 1997, where they contributed to editing and organizing a revised edition of a bestselling humor book. In 1998, they worked as an Assistant Agent at Ellen Levine Literary Agency and as an Assistant Editor at Dutton/Plume Books (Penguin Putnam), where they were responsible for fiction and nonfiction books.

From 1999 to 2001, Brett held various roles, including Submissions Coordinator Consultant at Stories at The Moth, Editor/Producer at Dreamlife.com, and Script Coverage Consultant at Solaris Film, Inc. Brett also worked as a Promotions Manager at Amacom Books from 2001 to 2009.

In 2013, Brett became a Columnist for "Improvising Screenplays" at Script Magazine (Scriptmag.com). Brett then transitioned to a career as a Freelance Writer and Actor at their own company, BrettCorp, in 2009.

More recently, Brett has worked at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, where they have held several positions, including Senior Communications Writer from 2016 to 2021, Senior Manager of Writing and Entertainment Outreach from 2021 to 2022, and currently as the Director of Writing and Entertainment Outreach since 2022.

Brett Wean graduated from Vassar College in 1995 with a Bachelor's degree in Film. Prior to their college education, they attended The Haverford School from 1980 to 1991. Brett also completed the Radcliffe Publishing Course in 1995. Additionally, Brett has obtained a certification in Mental Health First Aid, but the specific institution and year are unknown.
