American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Michelle West is an experienced mental health professional currently serving as the 988 Project Director at the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services since September 2022. With over a decade of involvement in suicide prevention training, West is a SafeTALK Trainer, ASIST and suicideTALK Master Trainer with LivingWorks, and a QPR for Suicide Prevention Trainer at the QPR Institute. West has also been a Board Member and Field Advocate Ambassador for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Middle TN Chapter since August 2010, and previously coordinated programs for survivors of suicide loss at Family & Children's Service. Additional roles include a REACH Facilitator with the Army National Guard and a Master Resiliency Trainer for the United States Department of the Army. West's education includes a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Mental Health/Human Services from Northern Kentucky University and a high school diploma from Blanchester High School.
