Victor Armstrong, MSW has a diverse and extensive work experience in various leadership roles within the healthcare industry, with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Victor'smost recent position was as the Vice President for Health Equity and Engagement at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Soul Shop for Black Churches at Soul Shop.
Victor also worked as a DEI Consultant for a period of four months while being self-employed. Victor then served as the Chief Diversity Officer at RI International for almost a year.
Before their time at RI International, Victor held the position of Chief Health Equity Officer at the NC Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, they were responsible for leading and implementing health equity initiatives across the agency. Additionally, they served as the Director of the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse Services within the same department.
Victor has also held significant leadership roles in behavioral health at Atrium Health and Carolinas HealthCare System, where they served as Vice President of Behavioral Health in both organizations.
Victor Armstrong holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from East Carolina University, which they obtained from 1996 to 1998. Prior to their MSW, they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Business Administration, Management, and Operations from NC Central University between 1982 and 1986.
