R. Aura Kanegis

Director, Office Of Public Policy And Advocacy at American Friends Service Committee

R. Aura Kanegis has extensive experience in public policy, advocacy, and program management, currently serving as the Director of the Office of Public Policy and Advocacy at the American Friends Service Committee since 2006. Previous roles include Director of Campaigns for both the Friends Committee on National Legislation and the Iraq Peace Campaign, as well as Director of Communications and Development at the First Nations Development Institute. R. Aura Kanegis also held the position of Director of Programs and Operations at the National Congress of American Indians from 1999 to 2004. R. Aura Kanegis holds a BA in Third World Studies and Women Studies from Oberlin College and has completed the International Baccalaureate program at multiple institutions, including the United World College of the American West and The Armand Hammer United World College, along with early education at Sandy Spring Friends School.
