Jonathan Arthur

Jonathan Arthur has extensive work experience in the field of geoscience. Beginning in 1993, they worked for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, where they held various positions such as Professional Geologist, Professional Geologist Supervisor, Assistant State Geologist, and Acting Director of the Florida Geological Survey. In these roles, Jonathan led and directed the Florida Geological Survey, provided geoscience expertise to various entities, and acquired legislative funds for hydrogeology research. In 2021, they transitioned to the American Geosciences Institute as the Executive Director, where they focus on promoting the understanding and trust of geosciences worldwide.

Jonathan Arthur has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Geology from Florida State University, which they obtained in 1994. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with Honors in Geology from the same university in 1982. Jonathan also holds additional certifications in Dale Carnegie Leadership and is a Florida Licensed Professional Geologist.
