Janice Garrett joined American HealthCare in 2005, bringing 15 years of experience in long-term care with her and is currently the VP of Finance overseeing the GL and PR departments.
Janice also works closely with Operations assisting with monthly operational reviews and special projects and has taken the lead on many process improvements and project implementations. Two years ago she saw the need to help those individuals in the AIT program to study for the accounting section of the administrator exam. She studied the exam questions and developed a formal training program to show candidates how to apply the book learning with the actual reporting and processes going on in AHC. She also has taken on the lead role in the electronic submission of payroll data to CMS for staffing. She oversees the process of all accounting audits and assists with other departmental audits.
Prior to joining American Healthcare Janice worked in a facility as a Business Office Manager, which gave her excellent experience and allowed her to relate to the day-to-day operations.
Understanding that administrators have so many responsibilities, Janice wants to make sure they don’t have to spend a lot of time researching numbers, hunting down statistics, etc. Her main goal is to answer all the financial questions an administrator has about his/her reports up front so it gives them more time to focus on the most important part of their jobs which is providing the best care for their residents.
Janice is married to Jim Garrett, the VP of Information Technology at AHC and together they have two children that currently attending college in Virginia. She enjoys all types of crafts, skiing and hiking the VA mountains.
