Chris Derienzo

Chris DeRienzo, MD, MPP, is a seasoned healthcare leader currently serving as the Chief Physician Executive at the American Hospital Association, where responsibilities include advocating for public policy and improving health outcomes through the Chief Physician Network. With a strong focus on clinical issues and patient safety, Chris also holds positions as an Adjunct Professor at Duke University School of Medicine, a Board Member with Mednition, and an Advisor for Concord Health Partners. Previous roles include System Chief Medical Officer at WakeMed and Senior Scholar at the Stanford Clinical Excellence Research Center. Chris holds a medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Policy in Health Policy from Duke University, with an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, Biology, and Psychology from Brandeis University.
