Megan Schaefer

Megan Schaefer is a seasoned legal and compliance professional with extensive experience in governance, ethics, and regulatory compliance within major organizations. Currently serving as Group Vice President of Governance at the American Hospital Association since January 2018, Megan has been instrumental in developing the AHA’s first compliance program and ensuring policy integrity across the organization. Previously at Sears Holdings Corporation from 2010 to December 2017, Megan held various roles including Deputy General Counsel and Associate General Counsel, where responsibilities included managing legal support for multiple business units and overhauling compliance programs. Earlier in their career, Megan worked as an Associate Attorney at Winston & Strawn LLP, focusing on litigation for multinational clients. Megan earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Chicago-Kent College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
