Lawrence Sloan, MBA, FASAE, CAE has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Lawrence currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) since October 2016. In this role, they lead an association dedicated to ensuring occupational and environmental health and safety in the workplace and community. Prior to this, Lawrence held the position of President & CEO at SOCMA (The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates, Inc.) from February 2010 to October 2016. Before their role at SOCMA, they were the President of the Adhesive and Sealant Council from January 2005 to February 2010. Lawrence also worked as the Director of Member Services at The Adhesive and Sealant Council from January 2001 to December 2004. In their early career, they served as a District Representative at Sloan Equipment Sales Co. from 1994 to 2000. Lawrence also gained valuable experience at Nalco Chemical and Air Products as an engineer from 1991 to 1994 and from 1985 to 1989, respectively.

Lawrence obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where they attended from 1981 to 1985. Lawrence continued their education at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, where they earned their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Marketing. Lawrence attended Kellogg School of Management from 1989 to 1991.
Prior to their higher education, Lawrence Sloan completed their College/University Preparatory and Advanced High School/Secondary Diploma Program at Upper Dublin High School from 1978 to 1981.
On top of their educational achievements, Lawrence also holds several certifications. In 2006, they obtained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification from ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership. In 2021, they received the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education. Additionally, Lawrence obtained the Registered Specialist: Exposure Decision Analysis certification from the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Registry Programs and the TESOL certification from the World TESOL Academy, both in February 2023.
