Allyson Pakstis has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. Allyson began their career in 2008 as an AmeriCorps member at the American Red Cross, SEPA Chapter, where they served in the Emergency Services department. In 2009, they became a Research Fellow at the Cancer Support Community, focusing on Education & Outreach.

In 2010, Allyson joined the International Lifeline Fund as a Graduate Intern. Allyson then moved on to the American Institutes for Research in 2011, starting as a Research Associate in the Human and Social Development division. Allyson later transitioned to the role of Researcher and continued their work until the present time.

In 2014, Allyson joined the University of Maryland and held two positions concurrently. Allyson served as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant from August 2014 to December 2016. Additionally, they became a Graduate Instructor for the course "Delivery of Human Services to Families" starting in January 2017 and continued until July 2019.

Finally, from 2014 to 2019, they attended the University of Maryland, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Family Science within the School of Public Health.
