Ellena Sempeles

Research Assistant at American Institutes for Research

Ellena Sempeles has a diverse range of work experience. Ellena began their career as a Research Assistant at Applied Psychology Laboratories, where they attended meetings and entered data for health studies. Ellena then moved on to the Ethnographic Fieldwork Project, where they provided research assistance for a project on local food movements, conducting literature reviews and transcribing qualitative interview sessions. Ellena later joined Catapult Consultants as a Project Support Specialist, providing administrative, logistical, technical, and analytical support for federal government contracts. Ellena prepared monthly reports and tracked deliverables using Microsoft Excel and Word. Currently, Ellena is working at the American Institutes for Research as a Research Associate, where they contribute to research projects.

Ellena Sempeles attended the University of Maryland from 2020 to 2024, where they pursued a Master of Science degree in Survey Data Science. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with a minor in Anthropology, from Christopher Newport University between 2009 and 2013. In 2012, Ellena also had a brief stint at the University of Amsterdam, where they pursued a non-degree program in Social Policy and Pragmatic Tolerance.
