Director, William Petschek Contemporary Jewish Life at AMERICAN JEWISH COMMITTEE

Dr. Laura Shaw Frank serves as AJC’s Director of William Petschek Contemporary Jewish Life. She holds a PhD in Jewish history from the University of Maryland, College Park and undergraduate and law degrees from Columbia University. Previously, Shaw Frank held educational and administrative roles at Yeshivat Maharat and SAR High School in Riverdale, NY. In addition to her secondary school and post-graduate teaching, Shaw Frank has lectured widely across the country at conferences, synagogues, university Hillels, and adult education institutes. She has published articles on subjects including Israel education, Jewish marriage and divorce in America, modern Orthodoxy, and Orthodox women’s leadership. A passionate proponent of deep and nuanced Jewish education, Shaw Frank has worked extensively on national and international Jewish history and Israel education initiatives. Prior to beginning her work in the Jewish community, Shaw Frank was a corporate litigator at the firm of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, LLP.
