Shari Turitz

Vice President for Programs at American Jewish World Service (AJWS)

Shari Turitz has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, with a focus on human rights, poverty alleviation, and public health. From 2013, they served as the Vice President for Programs at American Jewish World Service (AJWS), where they led a 58-person team and supervised a $35 million grantmaking budget. In this role, they oversaw programs in 18 countries, including those related to sexual health and rights, climate justice, civil and political rights, and humanitarian response. Shari also managed government affairs and community education and advocacy programs. Prior to this, Turitz worked at Open Society Foundations as the Director of Programs, Public Health Program from 2008 to 2013. Before that, they held positions at The Synergos Institute, including Director of Strengthening Bridging Organizations from 2005 to 2008 and Deputy Director of Country Programs from 2002 to 2005.

Shari Turitz holds a Master's degree in International Relations and Affairs from Columbia | SIPA. Shari obtained this degree from 1993 to 1995. Prior to that, they pursued their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Latin American Studies from Tufts University from 1986 to 1990.
