Mechatronic Head Of Department at American Magic - Challenger, 37th America's Cup

Dimitri Despierres has a diverse and extensive work experience in the sailing and engineering industry. Dimitri started their career as a sailor in Team France, Le Défi Bouygues Telecom - Transiciel in 1998, and later joined Team France, Le Défi Areva as a Design Engineer and Sailor from 2000 to 2003. Dimitri then worked as a Design Engineer at Oracle Racing from 2003 to 2017.

In 2017, Despierres joined American Magic - Challenger, 36th America's Cup as Systems HOD until 2021. Dimitri also worked as a Senior Design Engineering at SailGP in 2021. Later in 2021, they served as Mechatronic Lead at American Magic - Challenger, 37th America's Cup until 2022. In 2022, they briefly worked as the Chief Technology Officer at K CHALLENGE AC SL before transitioning to EfficienSea Engineering as the Director. Currently, Despierres holds the position of Mechatronic Head of Department at American Magic - Challenger, 37th America's Cup, starting in November 2022.

Dimitri Despierres obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Technology/Fluid Dynamics from the University of Montpellier, where they studied from 1993 to 1998. Dimitri later pursued a Management Certificate in Project Management at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in 2017.
