Philip Payne

Secretary at American Medical Informatics Association

Dr. Payne is an internationally recognized leader in the area of clinical research informatics (CRI), having led efforts since 2003 that resulted in the definition of CRI as a sub-discipline of Biomedical Informatics, the expansion of the AMIA CRI-WG, the creation of the AMIA Summit on Clinical Research Informatics, and multiple influential publications concerning the intersection of Biomedical Informatics and Clinical/Translational Research. He has authored over 100 papers and abstracts, and leads research programs supported by NCI, NCATS, NLM, and philanthropic awards. In 2010, he was appointed Chair of Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University, where he subsequently led the creation of a novel clinical and translational research informatics training program that received NLM T15 support in 2012.
