Maya Massary is a dedicated professional with diverse experience in leadership and educational roles. Currently serving as a University Honors Transition Council Representative at the University of Maryland since September 2019, Maya contributes original ideas for the new University Honors College. As the Advertising Director for the American Medical Student Association since September 2018, Maya actively engages with students and medical professionals during weekly meetings. Previous experience includes working as an Optometric Technician at Visual Eyes from October 2020 to September 2021, and a Student Intern at the UMCES Chesapeake Biological Laboratory under Dr. Thomas Miller from May to August 2019. Additionally, Maya demonstrated leadership skills as a Gymnastics Coach at St. Mary's County Recreation & Parks from December 2017 to August 2018. Maya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Maryland, having graduated in 2022, and also possesses a High School Diploma from Leonardtown High School.
American Medical Student Association
American Medical Student Association (AMSA) is a student-governed national organization. The main purpose of the organization was to provide medical students a chance to participate in organized medicine. The American Medical Student Association is the only medical student organization. The American Medical Student Association deals with medical student activism. AMSA is astudent-governed national organization committed to representing the concerns of physicians-in-training. AMSA members are medical students, premedical students, interns, residents, and practising physicians. AMSA continues its commitment to improving medical training and the nation's health. As believers in progress, not just in medical science but in growing our understanding of how environmental and social determinants, for instance, impact health, AMSA has continued to evolve and respond to the times.
