Sarah Sutherland has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Sarah started their career as a Special Education Paraprofessional at the Special School District of St. Louis County in 1997. Sarah then worked as an English as a Second Language Instructor at Sacred Heart Girls School from 2000 to 2001.
In 2002, Sarah joined Sanford-Brown College as an Academic Dean/Assistant Academic Dean, a position they held until 2006. Sarah then moved on to become the Director of Education at L'Ecole Culinaire/Vatterott College from 2006 to 2012.
From 2012 to 2014, they served as the Senior Academic Dean/Senior Director of Academic Support Services at Vatterott Educational Centers. Sarah then took on the role of Campus Director at Court Reporting Institute/Vatterott College - Sunset Hills/Vatterott College - Online from 2014 to 2018.
Their most recent position is at the American Optometric Association, where they currently serve as the Director of Education Programs starting from February 2019.
Sarah Sutherland obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Truman State University, where they studied from 1992 to 1996. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus on Communications at Webster University, from 1997 to 2000.
American Optometric Association
The American Optometric Association represents approximately 39,000 doctors of optometry, optometry students and paraoptometric assistants and technicians. Optometrists serve patients in nearly 6,500 communities across the country, and in 3,500 of those communities are the only eye doctors. Doctors of optometry provide two-thirds of all primary eyecare in the United States.Founded in 1898, the AOA is a federation of state, student and armed forces optometric associations.
