Shawn Adams

Shawn Adams is the Vice President of Business Services in the Global Industry Services (GIS) division of the American Petroleum Institute. In this role, he is responsible for leading the GIS business functions including division-wide business and growth strategies, finance and technology management, and division communications.

Shawn joined API in 2000. During his 22-year tenure, he worked in numerous roles throughout the organization, beginning as a program assistant in API’s publication distribution team, from which he moved to the Monogram program where managed an international pool of contract auditors, eventually moving into the operations team focusing on enhancing operational efficiency. Through his experience at API, he has developed a unique understanding of programs and services offered through the Global Industry Services division. Prior to joining API, Adams worked for the Smithsonian Institution.
