Rocio Cortes is a seasoned physicist with extensive experience in editing and research within the field of condensed matter physics. Currently serving as Senior Associate Editor for Physical Review Letters at the American Physical Society since May 2014, Cortes previously held roles as Associate Editor and Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brookhaven National Laboratory's Center for Functional Nanomaterials, focusing on ultrafast laser excitation and scanning tunneling microscopy. Additional postdoctoral work at Freie Universität Berlin and the Fritz-Haber-Institut included ultrafast dynamics studies in high-temperature superconductors and charge density wave materials. Rocio's academic journey began with a PhD in Physics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where research centered on metal/semiconductor interfaces and two-dimensional phase transitions, complemented by teaching certification for high school physics and chemistry in Spain.
