Dale R. Smith

Director at American Players Theatre

Dale is the Executive Vice President and Manager of U.S. Bank Trust Technology & Support Services headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He serves as the U.S. Bank Global Custody Executive.

Dale began his career with First Wisconsin National Bank’s Electronic Data Processing division in 1978, progressing through senior systems analyst and project manager roles before being named Team Manager in 1988. In 1991, he was named Manager of Automation Customer Services supporting banking systems outsourcing to more than 900 correspondent banks.

Dale joined Firstar Corporation in 1995 as a consultant to the Firstar Forward corporate restructuring project, remaining with the Implementation Team until 1997. He joined Firstar Trust Company in April 1997 as Director of Technology and was elected to the Board of Directors. In October 2001, Dale was named an Executive Vice President of U.S. Bancorp and Manager of Trust Technology and Support Services for U.S. Bank.

He is a member of U.S. Bank’s Executive Leadership Group, Trust Management Committee, Enterprise Information Technology Governance Committee, Information Security Steering Committee, Enterprise Data Governance Committee, Application Architecture Committee, First Response Executive Team and serves as the Executive Advisor to the U.S. Bank Women (Southeast Wisconsin) Business Resource Group.

Dale earned Bachelor of Science degrees with Distinction in Computer Science and History from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1982, having been elected Phi Beta Kappa in 1981. He was elected to the Iron Cross Society in 1981. He has held the designation of Certified Trust Operations Professional (CSOP) since 2001.

Dale serves as a Director on the Boards of Visitors for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Computer Sciences and History departments; a Director of the American Players Theatre, American Players Theatre Foundation and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Boards; and as Chairman of the Depository Trust Company (DTC) Operations Advisory Committee.

He previously served as Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, Director-At-Large and President of the Board of Directors of the Financial Services Technology Network and Director of the Academy of Information Technology for the Milwaukee Public Schools.

He and his wife, Allison, reside in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
